Aurubis Bulgaria was a special partner of the Sofia Science Festival

  • Nearly 70 children from Zlatitsa and Pirdop visited the event on company's invitation, then Sofia Science Festival made a visit to Srednogorie region with a hydrogen car

From 11 to 14 May 2023, Sofia Tech Park hosted the 13th edition of Sofia Science Festival organized by the Beautiful Science Foundation. Aurubis Bulgaria was a special partner of the most prestigious national festival for popular science.

In one of the three main festival halls - "Aurubis Laboratory" - were presented 23 lectures and events related to air chemistry, the first Bulgarian polar ship that conquered Antarctica, how to make paper, or jelly or even a spectroscope.

The chemists from the "Rapid Thunder Corps" from the University of St. Kliment Ohridski Faculty of Chemistry in partnership with Aurubis Bulgaria made demonstrations in the Big Bang Zone. "Copper(e)xplosions" of the young scientists presented in an attractive and understandable way a different chemical reactions related to copper.

During the Science Festival, Aurubis Bulgaria organized visits for nearly 70 children from "St. Paisii Hilendarski" school in Zlatitsa and "Savo Savov" school, in Pirdop. The students had the opportunity to make paper and jelly, to learn about the nature of numbers, to understand the world of data, to see the process of 3D modelling and printing.

Sofia Science Festival arrived in Srednogorie region, where Aurubis Bulgaria invited a speaker for the Technocrats module - Horizon GP hydrogen powered car race. On 15 May Ivaylo Bonev visited the St. Paisii Hilendarski" school in Zlatitsa and "Savo Savov" school in Pirdop. He demonstrated a hydrogen car to the students and discussed with them the advantages of electric cars. They then decided to build their own mini cars with a hydrogen fuel system.

The Sofia Science Festival is organized by the Beautiful Science Foundation in partnership with Ministry of Education and Science, universities, research units, embassies and cultural institutes.
