We are a recycling company that valorises complex non-ferrous materials by returning metals back into the value chain. We care about the future and our planet. We combine our technology and know-how to minimize the impact of our activities on the environment, climate and people, in order to preserve our natural resources and to build a bright future for tomorrow.
There are five values that define us. They are our DNA, the way we work together with all our internal and external stakeholders.
Each one of us is committed to the continuous improvement of what we do and how we do it. We encourage and stimulate innovation and innovative thinking by everyone throughout the company.
Accountability regarding our role, our colleagues and our organization. We are reliable and can rely on each other. We say what we do and do what we say. And if we cannot do what we said, we will communicate this.
We are proud of our company and we respect all corporate materials.
We are reliable and sincere at all times. We always behave in an ethically correct way towards each other, our customers and the environment. Fundamental trust and respect is essential in our relationship with others. We are open and direct with each other, while maintaining mutual respect. We really listen to each other, even when we disagree.
Sustainability means to include social, human, economic and environmental responsibility in all our activities, decisions and changes. This is a necessary condition for the future success of our company.
We are one company, we are one team, one Metallo.
We believe that success as a company is as important as individual success. Our strength lies in the balance of autonomous responsibility and interdependence.
We can treat the most complex secondary raw materials and refine them into new metal products to supply metal used in industrial production. We close the loop.
We care … about our people and environment. We are committed to 100% sustainable solutions. All materials entering the refining process, leave our premises with added value.
For us, feeding secondary refined materials for the global metal industry is the only way to protect our natural resources.
Metallo Belgium was founded in 1919 as ‘La Metallo-Chimique N.V.’. By 1923 it was processing a wide variety of raw materials ranging from copper trouser-studs to foundry and factory grindings. In the sixties a process was developed to recycle copper, tin and lead out of more complex raw materials. Today, Metallo excels in recycling and refining non-ferrous materials.
Metallo Spain, previously known as Elmet, was founded on November 1991 in Berango, Biscay. The production of black copper, its principal activity, started in October 1992. In 2000 the smelting capacity at Elmet was boosted from 4500 tons to 7500 tons per month allowing a production increase of black copper of more than 2000 tons per month.
